PACCS Southern Region Meeting – 12th May 2015

Following an invitation to attend a meeting of the Southern Region it was agreed that the President would attend the meeting in Beara Community School, Castletownbere. Connie Carolan attended also.

The Principal, Mary O’Sullivan, welcomed us to the School and the area. She mentioned the concerns surrounding the uncertainty surrounding the introduction of the New Junior Cycle. She also spoke of the close links between PACCS and ACCS.

There were six schools represented. Reports were given from all the schools. The reports covered Graduations, Awards Evenings, End of school year celebrations (Lunch with teachers), Junior Certificate, Book Grants, PACCS Annual General Meeting, getting parents involved in the Parents’ association.

The President outlined his plan to open up communication among PACCS schools. He told the meeting of his route to his involvement in his own Parents Association, Board of Management, PACCS and NPCpp.

The meeting concluded with thanks from PACCS for the invitation to attend the meeting and thanks from the Region for our attendance.

It was agreed that all relevant information re contacts etc. would be exchanged in order to improve communication.

The Region has a new Chairperson, Luke Hurley, Boherbue and the appreciation of the region was expressed to Rose Hegarty who was retiring.

Schools Represented:- Beara, Douglas, Kenmare, Boherbue, Rathmore and Ballincollig.
