PACCS Conference 2017: The venue for the Conference has now been confirmed. Ashbourne Community School will host the event. The Theme is – ‘S.O.S. – Supporting our Students’.
Workshops: It will be a one day Conference and it is planned to change the format somewhat in that all delegates will have an opportunity to have access to the Workshops as they will be presented to the group as a whole.
Speakers: It is planned that we will not to confine ourselves to one keynote speaker, rather have a number of speakers who will address the delegates during the day – each for 10 – 15 minutes.
Stands: A number of relevant organisations have expressed an interest in having a stand at the Conference and this will allow our delegates to have access to information on a number of topics which will be of interest to parents and students.
Open Forum: As always the Conference will finish with Open Forum where everyone will have the opportunity to put questions to the panel who will consist of Management, NPCpp, Teacher Unions, Career Guidance and State Examinations Commission.
NPCpp: The Conference was held in Tullamore on the 5th November last. Reports from our parents and PACCS members who attended was that it was very informative and very well organised. Reporters were there in force as the Minister for Education & Skills was addressing the delegates and the ASTI dispute was top of the agenda on everyone’s minds.
PACCS had a stand at the Conference to raise awareness of our organisation – it was manned by members of the Executive.
Rebecca Hemeryck, PRO of NPCpp, has been extremely busy with the media – radio, TV and Newspapers and while representing NPCpp. She has kept the concerns of our students and parents who are affected by this issue to the fore at all times.
PACCS Nominee: Due to the resignation of one of our members, Elaine Bell, Dublin Region was put forward for ratification as the fourth nominee to NPCpp. This brings our representation to full strength – 2 from Dublin Region, 1 from Southern Region and 1 from the North East.
Regional Meetings: It is planned to hold Regional meetings early in 2017.
